Monday Encouragement: Lies vs. Truth

"Refuse untrue thoughts.  Replace with truth.  Repeat often." - Patsy Clairmont

This is such powerful wisdom!  The enemy desires to destroy the life that is choosing to live in relationship with Jesus Christ or choosing to make strides towards God when life seems to be beating them down.  The enemy knows our weaknesses.  As women, he knows that we struggle with taking in lies (either spoken over us or implied by others), carressing those lies, meditating on those lies and eventually making them a truth in our lives.

What are some of the untruths that we tend to believe about ourselves?
I am unworthy of love.
The things I've done could never be forgiven.
I am not good at anything...not useful.
I am the only one feeling this way.
God is punishing me because of my sin.
I experience abuse because I deserve it.
I can't change.
God couldn't possibly hear my prayers.

Let me say this right now: These are lies straight from the pit of hell!!  The enemy wants you to believe these lies about yourself because, when you do, you live a defeated life.  When you accept these lies as truth, you give the enemy power over you.  The only way to take back power from the enemy is to verbally (out loud) speak truth over yourself....God's truth.

We cannot begin to refute and refuse the untruth until we know what truth with which to replace it.  Where do we find truth?  God's Word.  God's truth is held within the promises He has given to us in the Bible.  Here are some of these truths:

(taken from Oaks of Righteousness class)

Print this list off and carry it with you.  As you get dressed in the morning, say them aloud to yourself in the mirror.  As you drive to and from work, eat your meals, go to church, lay down to sleep, etc...When the enemy tries to sneek a lie into your mind, refuse to accept it, pull out this list and begin to verbalize it out loud.  You see, satan cannot read your thoughts.  You must speak out loud in order to refute him!

The more you speak God's truths about you over yourself, the more you will begin to believe them!  God has made you in His image to do mighty things in His name!  The enemy wants nothing more than to stop you....don't let him!  God's truth is more powerful than the enemies lies!

It's not an overnight mind-cleanse.  It will take time so, as Patsy says, "Repeat often!"  Keep at it.  Don't give up.  Let God's truths about you wash you of the lies you've believed in the past!

Be encouraged this Monday to believe God's truths!
